Do's and Don'ts
In order to achieve the best possible results and desired effects there are certain printing and print finishing rules to adhere to. Below are some of these.
Do's
Use wax-free inks
Use spraypowder very sparingly and only when absolutely necessary.
Use alkaline resistant pigment inks
Use UV compatible inks from reputable suppliers
Supply silkscreen positives of excellent quality.
Specify ink pantone colours for silkscreen and garment printing.
Cut encapsulating sheets down to final size.
Cut and collate twin wire binding/cerlox binding/spiral binding products to final product.
Use only matt lamination film with a dyne level of 42 or higher.
Use the correct grain direction board when printing as this will help prevent cracking(fibre tear).
Wash printed garments inside-out
When ironing printed garments use a cool iron and only inside-out.
Don'ts
Use silicon-based ink
Use silicon-based spraypowder
Use ink containing any wax
Use non alkaline resistant pgment inks
Use inks containing reflex blue, dark blues, bronze blues, purple, violet and rhodamine red unless the ink supplier supplied you with uv varnish compatible ink.
Cut sheets that will affect grip and lay when silkscreen processes will be used.
Trim sheets to final size unless being encapsulated.
Use matt laminating film with a dyne level lower than 42 if any other process needs to be done after lamination.
Use sugar based glue when mounting as that might affect uv and lamination.
Use aqueous based sealer/coating when lamination is required as that affects the adhesion properties.
Use the wrong grain direction board or paper.
Wash printed garments without flipping them to inside-out.
Iron over printed areas on garments.
